What’s My Skin Type?

Skin types are categories used to describe how one’s skin behaves. The skin type varies with environmental and climatic factors such as hormones, climate, ingredients in skin care products, age, lifestyle, diet, medication and allergies. Skin type is either; normal, dry, oily, sensitive or combination skin.

How do I know what my skin type is??

Knowing your skin type is as simple as using these two steps:

  1. Bare skin Method.
Just as the name suggests, you get to feel your skin without applying any products. You first wash your face with a mild cleanser to remove dirt and make up, then stay for 30 minutes before you touch or apply anything on your face. Resist the temptation to touch your face.
Dry SkinFells itchy and tight, has some flaky patches
Normal SkinFeels good and neither oily nor oily
Oily SkinToo Shiny and Greasy especially T-Zone
Combination SkinOily T-Zone, dry or normal on cheeks
  1. The Blotting Sheet Method.
This method requires you to have blotting sheets and less than an hour! Take a blotting sheet and pat or dub on various parts of your skin. Make sure not to rub or swipe against your skin. Hold the sheet up to the light to make an observation. After knowing what skin type you have, it’s now easier to know what kind of product you can use.

But what are the characteristics of this skin types?? and How do I CARE for it?

Normal Skin. Neither dry nor oily skin. Characterized by a smooth texture with an even tone, no visible blemishes, patches or flaky areas. It has well balanced moisture content and sebum production. This makes the pores fine giving the skin a healthy glow. Maintaining Normal Skin’s as simple as incorporating gentle cleansers, toners, moisturizers and protecting with a touch of sunscreen. Make sure not to use heavy oils and night creams.

Oily skin. Characterized by visible enlarged pores and an oily greasy skin, Oily skin also has a glossy shine which is caused by too much sebum being produced by the oil glands. People with oily skin are prone to acne and hyper-pigmentation as the excess oil mixes up with dead skin cells that end up clogging the pores.
You can take care of oily skin by using serums that are more hydrating such as Bellalussi Bio skin or Bio Ampoule which will deal with hyper-pigmentation. Also remember to exfoliate and moisturize. Bellalussi SF Edition Bio Intensive Ampoule, Veridique care cream (moisturizer), Pure Label Foam Cleanser.

Dry skin. Having this kind of skin may be quite uncomfortable as it displays extreme tightness, sagginess and age conditioned roughness. Dry skin is a result of the oil producing glands are not producing enough oil to keep the skin moisturized. Dry skin is prone to premature wrinkles because of the deprived moisture.
Despite the above descriptions, dry skin is not similar to dehydrated skin! We’ll know more about that when talking about skin concerns. To deal with dry skin, one has to use products that are gentle, block moisture loss from the skin, but still effective. One should also use products with excellent hydrating aspects such as Bellalussi Advanced Angel’s Tear Moisture Cream in order to add moisture to the skin. You can then top it up with an essence in order to nourish the skin. And always remember to wear sunscreen. Bellalussi Advanced Angel’s Tear moisture, SF Edition Bio Essence and Paw Paw Sunscreen.

Combination Skin. This is the toughest type of skin to handle as its better when you only have to address one issue rather than a couple of them. These skin exhibits oily zones, dry zones and acne prone zones. This type of skin requires dedication as each area requires different treatment. Use alcohol free toners, and light night creams, you also need fragrance free products for the sensitive areas of your skin and sunscreen which will calm redness and irritation.
The Veridique brand will typically help you on this as it improves skin texture while providing a protective layer and extensive moisture to your skin, as it is infused with sensitive-skin friendly ingredients such us Cica Calendula which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Sensitive Skin :Skin with reduced tolerance to the application of cosmetics and personal care products. Characterized by itching, Redness, Peeling, stinging and dryness. Change of weather, Dust, Stress and having household pets can also affect people with sensitive skin.
However, dealing with sensitive skin can be quite difficult since you can only use a certain range of products. Gentle cleansers and deeply moisturizing face masks should be essential in daily skincare routines to help calm down the skin.
The Veridique Brand which’s Sensitive Skin care targetted has ingredeints like Cica, Centella, that will help soothe, heal and highly improve skin appearance while providing Intense hydration💧 to your Skin

Use the right kind of products in line with your skin and uncomplicate beauty!!!
